Analysis
With the amount of memories Jonas is being transmitted to him, he then gets better with the memories to be ordered to transmit it to others and to store it forever. Jonas' is a very smart person and in the end he ends up using these memories. The one where they were on a sleigh and riding down the hill was very crucial in the story. If Jonas didn't know what that sleigh was, he probably wouldn't have known what to do with it. I believe this is a very important memory that Jonas the possessed.
The phrase" Love is a strong word" means a lot in this story. When Jonas finds out about what love is, he then notices that everybody should be able to enjoy these happy moments, even if people do make bad choices. I also think this was a huge turning point n the story because Jonas then realizes that people need to have the right to make choices instead of being forced to do everything. This Christmas day memory made a huge impact in the story.
After Jonas finally realizes that he can transmit memories to other people, he can now go on his journey. Without being able to transmit memories, he would have probably fainted and drop dead and so would Gabe. He transmits the feeling sunshine to Jonas and then they were able to keep warm. Without this stage of the story, Jonas wouldn't have been able to stay alive and finish the quest.
Evidence
Pg. 92 paragraph 5
"How does it feel he asked? Jonas sat up and tried to answer honestly"
Pg. 125 paragraph 4-5
"I couldn’t get the word for the whole feeling of it, the feeling that was so strong in the room 'Love' the giver told him"
Pg. 78 Paragraph 3
"He rested for a moment, breathing deeply" I am so weighted with them
